Riding Horses, Big Bend My solo camping trip to Big Bend started out ordinary. After an incredibly beautiful 10-hour drive to my campsite in Terlingua, I found my Kodiak tent a few miles off the beaten path, around a large hill, up and down several deep crevasses, and marked by a sign that said, “La Corazon”. Temperatures in the desert drop quickly when the sun goes down. I had arrived with just enough time to unload, build a fire, and get ready for a sunset show.

The Hemphill Little Theatre is excited to ring in the Christmas holiday season. Saturday December 7th at 10:30 is the free Christmas Concert by the students of Rebekah Norwood Music Studio. Come hear the students who have worked hard to perfect their talents for the community.

Hometown Hero...

Dre’Lyn Washington, Hemphill graduate and Hometown Hero, is making the town proud. He is the RB for the Ragins Cajuns at University of Lafayette Louisiana. Dre’Lyn has made the Honorable Mention for the Earl Campbell award and was made the Offensive Player of the Week with a 123 rushing yards with only 8 carries and 2 Touchdowns. His stats continue to be impressive and he is outstanding on the field and off. We are cheereing loud, Dre!

City Approves City Manager Annual Evaluation

The Hemphill City Council held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 19th., and after opening prayer and pledge to the flags, approved the consent agenda which consisted of minutes from previous meeting, accounts payable check register of October 2024, gs power cost adjustment of $0.087 per ccf for November 2024, and the electric power cost adjustment of $0.02420 per kwh for November 2024. Kailee McDaniel, Sabine County Hospital Administrator, spoke of all the great improvements being implemented at the hospital, such as the swing bed program, physical therapy and many others. All of this is being done to ensure that local residents have more opportunity to fulfill their needs right here in Sabine County.
