The Country Parson

Body
When I was young, we did not have a TV in our home. My parents did not think it was important, so we listened to the radio instead. I love the Saturday morning radio shows, Popeye the Sailor Man, particularly. Then something big happened that changed our lives. On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. This event changed everything for us.

Welcome Integrity: REJOICE

Body
Dearest Chris Cox reminds me, “No rush.” Dearest Brenda Guidry advises “Read your articles three times before submitting.” Their clear communication has stuck, but I falter and apologize. Carol Burnett said, “Words, once they are printed, have a life of their own.” Could she have referenced to acting because script is interpreted? Words tell it all.

Welcome Integrity: PRAY

Body
The wind has forcefully arrived to bend the branches and wave the leaves. The birds have taken cover. Outside and in the wild the animals hunker down; they are close by the shaking ground and massive tree trunk yonder… each in view of the wrestling wrapped in earshot of the louder than lovely claps of thunder. Lightning strikes from different directions and the rooftop taps as the windows tremble. A storm is nearing and soon to be upon us.

Welcome Integrity: Memory Makers

Body
Commemorating Memorial Day brings to mind the brave who perished for the freedom in our nation. It is a solemn memorial we respect. Veterans bow their heads knowing more than we who have not filled their boots. To them, we say, “Thank you for your service.” We mean to say more… think it… pray for them. Among us are Families and Friends who miss one or more souls fallen in battle.

Communication

My Lufkin kids met me at church and sat with me. Later, after service, they took me out for lunch. Then, they followed me home. We had a good long visit. At least, my daughter and I did. He took a short nap. This was so special, to me. I fully enjoyed my time, with them.
