Teacher of the Year...

At the VFW District 19 meeting, Post 10351 of Hemphill was pleased and Honored to participate during the award of District 19 Teacher of the Year. Susan Conn was selected for the Hemphill Post Middle School award. Her name was then forwarded to the District 19 for further consideration. After her 1st Place win there, her name will be sent to the Texas division for further consideration. We are pleased to announce she was awarded a plaque and $300 at the VFW Post 10351 and received a plaque and a check for $500.

Meeting The Sabine County Beekeepers will meet for our monthly meeting on Monday February 3rd at 6:30pm. We meet every 1st Monday of the month at 6:30PM at the Sabine County Extension Agents office in Hemphill, located in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot next to Family Dollar.

Fun in the Forest After Dark

The Texas Forestry Museum invites you and your family to attend Fun in the Forest After Dark on Friday, February 7th from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. At the event, kids will roast hot dogs over a campfire, eat s’mores, learn about campfire safety from Texas A&M Forest Service’s, Laura Stevens, take a night hike on the trail, play games, and more. All attendees should wear closed-toe shoes, warm clothing, and bring a flashlight. Tickets are $5 per person and are limited, so be sure to call the museum at (936) 632-9535 and reserve your spot. Tickets will not be sold at the door. A special thank you goes to our event sponsors, Timber Pro Forest Service and E. L. Kurth Jr. Charitable Foundation, for making this event possible. Photos will be taken at the event for promotional materials.

According to countless frustrated spouses, men seem to suffer from an irrational resistance to stopping to ask directions when lost in strange territory. That this trait is shared by most, if not all men, and has proven so resistant to the attempted behavior modifications and downright nagging of so many women, suggests a genetic predisposition. I have discovered that the reason is that men just don’t feel they are lost.

As the seasons change, so do horses’ coats to help them stay warm in winter and cool in summer. But, occasionally, horses can be late to shed their thick winter coats.
