West Sabine Athletic Banquet...

Coach Bragg introduces the West Sabine Tigers football team during the West Sabine Athletic Banquet 2023 held on Monday evening the 15th at the First Baptist Church in Pineland. After Coach Bragg, each of the other coaches took their turn giving a short speech and introducing the athletes in cross country, cheerleading, basketball, powerlifting, track, softball, and baseball. Everyone enjoyed a great meal, followed by presentation of certificates to each individual athlete. Congratulations to all the West Sabine Tiger athletes! More on spring district awards next week.

WS FFA Bass Tournament ...

The West Sabine FFA held a fundraiser bass tournament on Saturday, May 13th with launch and weigh-in at Holly Park Marina on Toledo Bend. First place was won by Tyler Meeks (pictured right) with 9.93 lbs. He partnered with his dad (not pictured) Chad Meeks. Taking second place was Jace Lowe (pictured left) with one fish (but what a fish it was) with 8.30 lbs. Congratulations to all the fishermen who participated, and Congratulations to West Sabine FFA for sponsoring such a well run tournament!

Big Bass Splash on Toledo Bend...

During the last hour on Day 3, of the 2023 Sealy Outdoors Big Bass Splash held this weekend on Toledo Bend, Ray Albritton of West Monroe, Louisiana weighed in a 10.04 pounds to Win! This was the only double-digit fish brought to the scales during the whole 3 day tournament! Ray won the $100,000 Grand Prize which included a Phoenix 721 XP boat powered by Mercury, equipped with Minn Kota, Hummingbird, Navionics and Power Pole, a Ram Truck, plus $5,000 cash.

Hemphill Athletes sign college...

On Friday, May 19th, proud parents and coaches watched as three Hemphill Hornet athletes signed their college intent papers. Omarion Smith (seated left) signed with Mary Hardin Baylor for football, Jay Blake (seated center) signed with Texas Lutheran University for football, and Kam Arrington (seated right) signed with S.E. Community College in Nebraska for baseball. Congratulations to these fine athletes as they start their college careers in sports!
