Hornets move to 2-0 in District Play after defeating Kountze at home

Hornet teammates celebrate as senior, #55 John Lucius gets into the endzone for six! The Hemphill Hornets hosted the Kountze Lions last Friday night to continue district play. The first half was all Hemphill as the Hornets forced a punt on the first Kountze drive, and then drove 70 plus yards for their first score of the night.

D R Martial Arts students compete in tournament

On September 23, 2023, the students from D R Martial Arts Academy of Hemphill competed in the Warrior of God Louisiana Martial Arts Tournament. Sensei took first place in sparring in the Black Belt Men Division. He also won third place in the Adult Black Belt Kata Division. Jayden Zapata took first place in Kata and third place in sparring. Rylie Todd took first place in sparring and second place in Kata. Jennifer Seegers took first place in Kata and second in sparring. Evan Nicks took first place in Kata and first place in sparring. Brennon Stewart took second place in Kata and second in sparring. Justice Stewart and Wyatt Lillico both took third place in the kids division. We are extremely proud of all of our students on their hard work and dedication. Tigers face Garrison in District opener

To say it was a rough night for the West Sabine Tigers September 22 in Garrison was an understatement. In the district opener for both squads Garrison came out guns blazing on their first possession as QB Brayden Davidson found WR TyChristopher Shepherd for a 74 yard scoring strike on the second play of the game. They wouldn’t relent all night long as they cruised to a 64-0 victory.

The West Sabine Tigers looked to get off the deck from last week’s heartbreaking season opener as they traveled to Alto September 1. The Tigers came out and immediately punched the home standing Yellowjackets in the mouth with an eight play, 70 yard drive that was culminated by Jakorian Walker’s 18 yard dash for six. Kameron Striegel ran in the conversion for an 8-0 lead early.
