Landon Smith #11 Brookeland senior signing to play Dallas College - Brookhaven in Basketball on Tuesday May 5th, 2026. His all star team won their Basketball game in San Antonio Thursday May 7th, 2026 with a score of 85-63.

The waters of Toledo Bend Reservoir came alive this past weekend as thousands of anglers, families and spectators gathered for the 2026 Big Bass Splash — an event that has become as much about community and tradition as it is about trophy bass.

n a by Cecil Tatom Sabine County Reporter The playoff action kept right on rolling this past week as the West Sabine Tigers faced the Overton Mustangs in the regional semifinals. On the ladies side the Brookeland LadyCats took on the Avery Bulldogs with a spot in the state semis on the line.

Playoff action continued for both West Sabine squads this past week as well as Brookeland. Let’s see how they fared.

West Sabine 1SD welcomed students, staff and supporters from across the region on April 28 for the district’s first annual Champions Track Meet, an event centered on inclusion, participation and celebrating every student.

The diamonds were kept scorching hot with nail biting action this past week as playoff action continued for local squads. Here we go! The Hemphill Hornets would kick off their bi-district series with the Gary Bobcats April 29 at Panola College.

The bi-district round of the itate softball playoffs began n earnest this past week for ill three local squads. Let’s ;ee how they did, shall we? The Hemphill Lady Hornets would take on the Woden Lady Eagles in a 2 out of 3 series beginning April 24.

The regular season has wrapped up for the local softball squads while baseball still has a week to go in its regular season. The West Sabine, Brookeland and Hemphill softballers all made the playoffs and here is a recap of their games April 14 and 17.
