Track Meet at HISD

Hemphill Hornet Anthony White takes 1st Place in High Jump (as well as 1st Place in the 110M Hurdles and the Long Jump) at the track meet sponsored by Hemphill High School on Thursday, March 14th. The Hemphill Varsity Boys literally ran away with the meet, taking 1st Place overall (out of 12 schools competing), winning 1st Place in 100M dash, 110M hurdles, 4X100M relays, 4X200M relays, long jump, discuss, and high jump.

Wildcats get season underway

The Brookeland Wildcats, fresh off their deep basketball playoff run, tipped off their baseball season March 7 against the Arp Tigers. Brookeland would run into a tough customer in Cade Clibom, who would shut out the Cats 5-0, fanning seven in five innings work. Jake Bennett took the loss throwing two innings allowing three runs on one hit while walking three and fanning three.

The 3rd Annual Brandon Belt Grand Slam Bass tournament (a 3 day fishing event) was held on Sam Rayburn this last weekend and ended with the Top 4 teams all finishing within 1 pound of each other! Congratulations to the Champions of the 2024 Grand Slam, Cole Moore and Colby Miller (pictured above with Brandon Belt), who took home the $150,000 first place prize (2024 Bass Cat Boats Eyra and $60,000 cash)! Cole and Colby brought in a 3 day total of 76.01 lbs. The team of Russell Pasket and Chris DiBerardino made a push for the win, but fell just short after weighing in a total of 75.61 lbs.
