Wildcats get season underway

The Brookeland Wildcats, fresh off their deep basketball playoff run, tipped off their baseball season March 7 against the Arp Tigers. Brookeland would run into a tough customer in Cade Clibom, who would shut out the Cats 5-0, fanning seven in five innings work. Jake Bennett took the loss throwing two innings allowing three runs on one hit while walking three and fanning three.

Brandon Belt Grand Slam Bass Tournament

The 3rd Annual Brandon Belt Grand Slam Bass tournament (a 3 day fishing event) was held on Sam Rayburn this last weekend and ended with the Top 4 teams all finishing within 1 pound of each other! Congratulations to the Champions of the 2024 Grand Slam, Cole Moore and Colby Miller (pictured above with Brandon Belt), who took home the $150,000 first place prize (2024 Bass Cat Boats Eyra and $60,000 cash)! Cole and Colby brought in a 3 day total of 76.01 lbs. The team of Russell Pasket and Chris DiBerardino made a push for the win, but fell just short after weighing in a total of 75.61 lbs.

Toledo Bend and O.H. Ivie shared the ShareLunker Legacy Class stage to kick off the final week of February. O.H. Ivie in West Texas continued its unprecedented run of monster largemouth bass and Toledo Bend in East Texas showed that excellent fisheries abound from one corner of Texas to the other.
