Both Brookeland squads hit their respective diamonds this past weekend looking to extend their seasons in Hudson. The LadyCats took on the Neches Lady Tigers in a two out of three series beginning May 17 while the Wildcats took on the Chester Yellowjackets in a one game playoff the same day The LadyCats scratched and clawed as best they could vs. Neches, but a three run fifth inning for the Lady Tigers would seal their fate in Game One as they fell 6-2. The next day Neches would stymie their bats once again, limiting the ladies to one run and four hits in a 3-1 series winning victory in Game Two. The LadyCats had a fantastic season and in my opinion they will be right back in the regional final next season because of their young, talented nucleus of players. They remind this writer of a certain group of Lady Tigers at West Sabine from 2018-2021, a scrappy, talented bunch with a lethal lineup 1-9 and solid pitching in the circle. The future is indeed bright for this group of ladies.
