Arencia Theresa Smith

Arencia Theresa Smith, 86, of Hemphill passed away Sunday, Dec. 3rd at her residence. Arencia was born February 2, 1937 in Thibodaux, Louisiana to William Menge and Ophilia Thibodaux Menge. A longtime resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, she had lived in Sabine County for the past 15 years. She had worked in retail sales and enjoyed gardening and sewing in her spare time. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bernard Smith of Hemphill; son, Joel Bye and wife, Gwen, of Baton Rouge; daughters, Melody Callegan of Lake Charles and Wendy Hebert and husband, Kenneth, of Alvarado, ; brothers, William Menge of Thiobdaux and Lionel Menge of Houma, LA; sister, Vickie Danos of Raceland, LA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Willie Earl Holman

Mr. Willie Earl Holman, 67, of Geneva, departed this physical life on November 22, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Willie was born April 15, 1956. He is survived by his wife Sally Buckley Holman of Geneva, son Eric Barlow (Moneque) of Dallas, two daughters Jenifer Holman of Houston and Anisha Holman of Hemphill, nine grandchildren, brother Kevin Holman of Fort Wayne, IN, three sisters LaTonya Holman of Beaumont, Youlanda Thompson of Houston and Tammy Senegal of Beaumont. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

George Arthur Shultz

George Arthur 'Yellow Dog' Shultz, 78, of San Augustine died Saturday, Nov. 25, at his residence.

Shultz was born Oct. 5, 1945, in Fostoria, Ohio, to parents George Arthur and Orpha Jean (Yeager) Shultz. He served his country in the Army, making that his career until retirement in 1984. Shultz served during the Vietnam and Korean eras and was a Purple Heart award recipient.

In later years, 'Yellow Dog' and his wife Marty were longtime residents of Toledo Bend area in Sabine County before moving to their new home near San Augustine in 2020.

Opal “Elaine” Erwin Hamilton

Opal “Elaine” Erwin Hamilton of Midlothian (formerly of Hemphill) passed away Sunday, November 26 at Midtowne Meadows in Midlothian. Elaine was born on July 11th, 1931 in the Goodrich Home in Hemphill to Belvie Erwin and Sally Ruth Holder Erwin. She attended Hemphill ISD where she was a cheerleader and played high school basketball. Her team's picture is proudly displayed above the cashier on the header at Valero in Beanville.

Connie Perolio Hayes

Connie Perolio Hayes, 74, passed away at home on Nov. 28 with her husband at her side. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Glenn Paul Hayes, two sons Eric Paul Hayes and wife Trina, of Dayton , Jeremiah George Hayes and wife Betsy now of St. John Florida. Connie was born September 20th, 1949, in Chesapeake West Virginia to George and Bonnie Perolio. She lived most of her life in Nederland where was graduated from Nederland High School in 1969. She then went on to attend Chenier business school in Beaumont.

Dalton Ray Lowe

Dalton Ray Lowe, 77 known to friends and family as Duffy, passed away Sunday, November 26, at his residence in Mauriceville. Duffy was born in Scrappin' Valley, Texas on May 7, 1946 to James Henry Lowe and Lula Mae Folsom Lowe. A native of Sabine County, he had lived in Orange from a young age before moving to Mauriceville in 1969. He loved to hunt and fish and play 42 and Wahoo. He was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. Playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was probably what he loved doing the most.

Reba Ann King

Reba Ann King, 92, of Bronson passed away Sunday, November 26 in Nacogdoches. Reba was born October 15, 1931 in Groves to Luther Taylor Dill and Naomi Parker Dill. She was a longtime resident of Bridge City where she was a Registered Nurse and had worked for many years as the Director of Nursing in Emergency Care. She and her husband, John, had been Sabine County residents for the past 38 years.

Mrs. Anna Lee Mosely Clark 85, of San Augustine, departed this physical life on November 16, at Colonial Pines Nursing Center in San Augustine. Anna was born February 04, 1938. She is survived by her daughter Theresa Ware of Corrona, CA, grandchildren 3, great grandchildren 6, brother Mike Berry of San Augustine, sister Lillie Anthony of Sexton. As well as a host of other relatives and friends.

James Theo Wright

James Theo Wright, 63, of Bronson passed away Tuesday, November 14 at St. Luke's Hospital in The Woodlands. James was born October 17, 1960 in Dallas to Theo Wright and Ann Horton Wright. He was a graduate of West Sabine High School and had worked as a CNA in the medical field. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his dog, Tigger. He is survived by his father, Theo Wright of Bronson; sons, Brandon Wright and wife, Renee, of Deer Park and Christopher Wright of LaPorte; daughter, Kristen Wright and Jordan of LaPorte; brother, David Wright and wife, Sandra, of Bronson; sister, Lisa Craig of Bronson; and grandchildren, Abigail, Edgar, Veanett, Emma, Camden, Kathryn, Brayden and Avery.
