Glendene Hoyle

Glendene Hoyle, 69, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill. Glendene was born July 25, 1954 in Houston, Texas to Curtis Page and Glenmore Thomas Page. She was a graduate of Cashmere High School in Houston and had worked as a Barber before becoming a Medical Assistant and CNA in the medical field. She had been a Sabine County resident since 1992, having lived in several places, among them, Clovis, NM, Las Vegas, NV, San Bernadino, CA, Altus, OK, and Bossier City, LA while her husband, Vance, was serving in the United States Air Force.

Tara Kate Huffman

Tara Kate Huffman, 49, of Hemphill, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at her residence. Tara was born November 24, 1974 to Thomas Jones and Ruthie Murphy Jones. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a graduate of Hemphill High School. She had worked for the Sabine County Clerk's Office for many years and was a member of Strickland Crossing Church of God. She enjoyed traveling every year to attend the Women of Joy Conferences with her church and she loved her family and grandbabies, as well as her nieces and nephews, spending as much time with them as she could. She enjoyed hosting reunions for her friends and family over the years and she loved to go to the beach.

Glenn Allen Smith

Glenn Allen Smith, 59, of Bronson, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at CHI St. Luke's Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin. Glenn was born May 25, 1964 in San Augustine, to Elton Covy Smith and Atrelle Bryant Smith. He had spent most of his life in Bronson, and was a graduate of West Sabine High School Class of 1982. He was a 10 year resident of Houston where he worked in publishing as a Printer Tech for RR Donnelley Commercial Print.

Helen Elaine Griffin

Helen Elaine Griffin, 69, of Rosevine, passed away December 31, 2023 at her residence. Helen was born January 14, 1954 in Pineland, to Henry Edgar Sunderland and Pearl Bass Sunderland. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and had worked in nursing as a CNA for Twin Lakes Nursing Home for 20 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing with her dogs, Layla and Molly. She also enjoyed going to casinos. Helen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Griffin of Rosevine; son, Micheal Paul Griffin and Mikki of Pineland; daughters, Pamela Jo Pike and husband, Jason, of Hardin and Paula S. Lyons and husband, Mike, of San Augustine; grandchildren, Tyler Pike, Brady Pike, Jhase Griffin, Jordan Griffin and Seth Stephens, and Jaden Griffin; great grandson, Wynston; and great granddaughter on the way, Parker.

Doris Jean Coward

Doris Jean Coward, 68, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Houston. Doris was born November 23, 1955 in Newton, Texas to Frank Molander and Imogene Moore Molander. She had been a resident of Sabine County since 2002, having previously resided in Merryville, Louisiana. She was a wonderful and caring wife and mother who enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends and family and fishing.

Mrs. Bonnie Mae Holman Combs, 86, of Minden, LA. Mrs. Combs departed this physical life on December 22, 2023, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Shreveport, LA. Bonnie was born December 02, 1937. Survived by daughters Nell Dupri of Minden, LA and Linda Howard of Minden, LA. One granddaughter; Breeze Howard of Minden, LA. As well as a host of other relativers and friends.
