PART ONE The US Supreme Court moved boldly in its first full term with three Donald Trump appointees, delivering far-reaching rulings on guns, religion and federal regulatory power along with a historic decision that eliminated the constitutional right to abortion. It was a term laden with tumult: the unprecedented leak of a draft abortion opinion, signs of friction among the justices, an alleged assassination attempt, and public anger that culminated with protesters arrested outside a fenced-in court as the newest justice was inside being sworn in.Along the way, the conservativedominated court issued sweeping rulings likely to reverberate for decades.

VFW holds flag ceremony...

Members of Hemphill VFW Post 10351, led by Post Commander Curtis Buckner, retired the old Flag that has flown over the 6 Mile VFD, and raised the new Flag which will be a part of the 6 Mile community for the next year. The ceremony has become a part of the annual 4th of July fireworks show put on by members of the 6 Mile VFD.

TAME is coming to Hemphill

TAME’s travelling Trailblazer is a 40-foot exhibit trailer that houses a variety of engineering and science exhibits targeted at students in grades 3 through 8. The Trailblazer is the only interactive science and engineering museum – on – wheels in Texas, and it’s coming to the J.R. Huffman Public Library in Hemphill on Monday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Trailblazer has 5 exhibit areas on board, each with several hands-on activities and STEM career information on aerodynamics, biotechnology, energy, weather, and space. There are 20 different activities for the kids to interact with and learn from.

Tracy A. "T.A." Lane, right, of Pineland attended and participated in the 136th annual convention of Texas Funeral Directors Association (TFDA) held June 12-15 in Galveston. He is pictured with Blue Broussard of Broussard's Mortuaries, who is the 2022-23 president of TFDA. Lane, a funeral director with Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, San Augustine, serves on the TFDA Services Inc. Board of Directors and was also a part of the 2022 committees for convention site selection and legislative affairs.
