R.A. Brown: How faith in God and family has preserved this Texas ranch

Mesquite trees and cactus sprawl across the land as far as the eye can see. The cattle find shade as the hot sun peaks behind the clouds on the distant horizon that is known as Throckmorton, Texas. To some this land is simply just that, land. But to the Brown family it has been home for over 100 years.

Swearing in ceremonies were held at the Courthouse on January 3rd for new and re-elected Sabine County officials starting new terms. The 2022 Empty Stocking Program sponsored by the Sabine County Children Service Board has wrapped up another successful season for the children of Sabine County. This outstanding community effort provides gifts of toys and candy for children in Sabine who might otherwise have an ‘empty stocking’ on Christmas morning for some children’s are the only gifts they will receive. A special thank you to Hemphill ISD Students that helped sort and bag up gifts for the recepients.
