Tournament Bass Fishing Season

Body
Almost anticipated as much as the start of deer season, local anglers look forward to the start of the new tournament bass fishing season to start, and it starts in January. Sabine County is full of folks that believe they are good “sticks” and are itching for the season fishing trails to start up and get a chance to get out on the water and prove they have what it takes to compete against their peers. Between Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn, there are lots of “Open” bass tournaments, as well as actual tournament trails to consider competing in.

Among the Pines

Body
Twenty years ago, I took my newborn babe to meet other moms of newborns in a nursing group called La Leche League. We met in a little room off to the side of the Beaumont Public Library. What began as moms helping moms quickly evolved into playdates, birthday parties, sleepovers, babysitting swaps, and deep friendships. Before Google was a thing, we called each other at all hours day and night to help each other manage those challenging years. As our children grew, we moved to different cities, different states, even different countries, and our phone calls and letters became more and more infrequent.
