Chicken, Eggs, & Other Nonsense

Body
The lowly chicken has provoked a number of interesting questions in the past, such as: Why did the chicken cross the road, and which came first – the chicken or the egg? These two questions have been pondered for many years, and every person must come to their own personal conclusion. I have decided that the real reason that the chicken crossed the road was because she wanted to get to the other side. Others have stated that she crossed the road to prove to armadillos that it COULD be done.

The Nervous Squirrel

Body
When I was growing up in the 40’s, it was hard to find a squirrel in my home town of Center, Texas. Any time we saw a squirrel we’d grab our gun and try to kill them. The reason for such few squirrels back then was the fact that so many people hunted them (even some women) …and ate them.

Pet Talk

Body
Cats are known to be fastidious groomers, but this doesn’t mean they can do it all on their own. Dr. Lori Teller, a clinical associate professor at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, discusses a few aspects of cat grooming in which owners can play an important role.

Library Closed...

Body
At 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday morning a vehicle was accidently driven into the J.R. Huffman Library. Luckily Cynthia Beard (Library Clerk-Notary) was not at work that day and seated at her desk or things may have taken a nastier turn. Janelle Trexler (Director) was on duty by herself when BANG, a vehicle came smashing into the building from the parking lot. The Library is closed until further notice. If it is deemed that there was no structural damage incurred, the Library may be able to open fairly soon after some extensive clean up on the inside. No further information available at this time, but Art Thibideaux (Library Board President) would certainly appreciate any donations at all to help with the fix up.
