Hornet Baseball back on track

The Hemphill Hornets challenged Huntington on Tuesday. The starting pitcher was Connor Fenley. The Hornets captured the lead in the first inning. Jaxon Mitchell grounded out, scoring one run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Hemphill Varsity Hornets tied things up at three when Mitchell grounded out, scoring one run. Skylar Paddie was the winning pitcher for Hemphill Varsity Hornets. Paddie lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking one. Kam Arrington, Conor McDaniel, Braeden Jordan, and Skylar Paddie each managed one hit to lead Hemphill Varsity Hornets. The final score was Hemphill: 4 Huntington: 3.

Jasper student assaults teacher

In national news last week, the elementary teacher who was shot in Virginia by her 6year-old student filed a 40 million dollar lawsuit against the Newport News Public School and officials including, the city's school board, former Superintendent Dr. George Parker and former Assistant Principal Dr. Ebony Parker. Evidence has piled high revealing that multiple teachers contacted administrators about the child, citing threats, dangerous behavior and claims from others that the boy had brought a gun to school. Those warnings were ignored and 25-year-old educator, Abby Zwerner, was seriously shot in the hand and chest.

The best way to protect yourself from an abusive partnership is to avoid an abuser altogether. It is far more difficult to leave an abusive situation once you’re in it than to never begin in the first place. Abusers are master manipulators. They may hide these signs or mask them early on. They often appear to be nearly perfect partners until they believe they have their target on the hook. So, if you see some of these signs in your dating relationship, keep an eye on your partner.
