On May 6, 2023, the flags were put up on the lawn of the Hemphill County Courthouse to honor the men and women of law enforcement and the United States military. They will be kept flying through Law Enforcement Week and until the end of the month celebrating Memorial Day.

Early voting and election day results for local ISD Trustee positions were posted over the weekend. West Sabine ISD: Incumbent Lisa Lane beat Mark Wright with 57% of the vote.

Victoria Root (pink shirt with the shears) cuts the ribbon for the Grand Opening of the Pineland Gymnastics Center located at 103 Timberland Hwy. (across the street from the Sabine State Bank in Pineland). They offer local and affordable gymnastics and tumbling classes for the Sabine County communities. Victoria “Tori” Root is the granddaughter of Pineland natives, ElRay and Jean Dickerson. Upon graduating from Brookeland High School in 2013, she moved to Baton Rouge to attend Louisiana State University. During her time in Baton Rogue she began coaching gymnastics at a local gym where she trained and became a USAG certified gymnastics instructor for both boys and girls recreational gymnastics and competitive gymnastics.
