The best way to protect yourself from an abusive partnership is to avoid an abuser altogether. It is far more difficult to leave an abusive situation once you’re in it than to never begin in the first place. Abusers are master manipulators. They may hide these signs or mask them early on. They often appear to be nearly perfect partners until they believe they have their target on the hook. So, if you see some of these signs in your dating relationship, keep an eye on your partner.

So you’ve been feeling like you would like to make some new friends? For some, making new friends comes very easy, but for others, making new friends is a terrifying challenge… especially if you are shy around people you don’t already know. As humans we are social creatures that require and enjoy social interaction with other humans. Our goal should be to not only make new friends, but to make new GOOD friends. Good friends are not just found, they are formed, and to make a good friend you need to be a good friend. The point is, it’s better to have 4 quarters than 100 pennies!

Fallen Hero Wall...

Coming April 15, The Texas Fallen Hero Wall will open for all to see. I contains names and picture all the Texans that have perished in combat this century. This will be an indoor event at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10351 at 3049 Hwy 184, Hemphill, Texas. You can tour the wall, get a free hotdog and mingle with some of VFW members from Sabine County. There will be a table set up seeking new members of Post 10351 and possibly others.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement following the Texas Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 8, Empowering Parental Rights – Including School Choice, by Sen. Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe: “From the first day I arrived in the Texas Senate, my goal and my passion has been to improve public education. As Senator, when I served as Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, that passion only grew. I led the fight to increase school funding, reduce the number of STAAR tests from 15 to 5, create scholarships for future math and science teachers, and place added focus on career education, as well as several other initiatives.

Legacies host Hemphill Pre-K...

The Hemphill Pre K class enjoyed a huge Easter egg hunt hosted by Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, April 4th. The kiddos got the GO signal and scattered like a covey of quail in search of 777 Easter eggs that were hidden. The smiling faces of the many residents at Lagacies, who had wheeled out under the main entrance canopy, was a sure sign they were enjoying watching the kids excitement and listening to their laughter.
