I was driving down the back-road, on my way to Sunday School. This is lovely country. Farms along the way have cows, horses or goats grazing in their fields. On my left, there was a bunch of cows of various colors, white, black and some beige looking ones. I noticed one that was different from any; I’d ever seen before. It was black, with a white stripe down its back. It was exactly the same size all the way across.

National Day of Prayer...

Body
Sabine County showed up in crowds to take part in the National Day of Prayer movement happening across the world. You could see kids from all different ages to the oldest members of the community. Bro. Charles Watson Youth Pastor at Hemphill_First Baptist Church put together the program. The program prayed for any and everything around the world, even our small community needs.

Operation Pork Chop Supper held

Body
On Wednesday April 26th, the Sabine County Ag Committee hosted the Operation Pork Chop Supper with guest speaker Dr. Aaron Sumrall, Director of Research with Pig Brig Services. We were able to host this program and supper due to our community sponsors Fairmount Lumber and General Store, Shelby Savings Bank, who provided a delicious pork dinner, and Hemphill FFA for making our top 3 hunter/trapper plaques. Over the duration of this program 35 feral pigs were eradicated from Sabine County. This year was a small start, but we were excited to kick off this program again and hope it can continue to be successful in years to come. The Sabine County Ag Committee is very grateful to all our weekly prize sponsors to include Chief Surveying, Hammock Furniture, BOM Bank, GD Edgar Lumber, Big Tin Barn, Keith’s Toledo Bend Tackle, Tebo Creek Winery, CL&M Grocery, Rusty Spur Ranch Feed and Distribution, Don’s Auto Salvage, Hemphill BBQ, Hemphill Smokehouse and Meat Market, Rosevine Country Store, Cut-N-Time, and Living Earth. Our top hunter/trapper was David Eddings, second place was Carl Beall Jr. and the thirdplace hunter/trapper was Jordan Ebarb.
