The Movie I Almost Saw

Body
In 1951 I hitch-hiked to Springfield, Missouri (with three dollars’ in my pocket) and enrolled in the newlyestablished Baptist Bible College. The school was kind enough to help a bunch of “pore” preachers get a start. Springfield had more colleges than any other city of its size in the U.S. That made it hard for students to find jobs, so many sold encyclopedias or Bibles… and I found a job washing dishes at The Colonial Hotel in downtown Springfield.

Family Wedding

Body
