According to a press release by the Sabine County Sheriff’s Department: “On September 7, 2024, Deputies from the Sabine County Sheriff's Office responded to an unattended death of a child. The Sheriff's Office had been contacted by the caller who advised a small young child had passed away in the yard of his residence as the result of an animal attack. The caller was not sure if the dogs on the property were responsible or another animal.

The Sabine County Republican Party will have its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, September 12th @ 6:30 pm at the Chamber of Commerce office in Hemphill. Guest speaker will be Joanne Shofner, Dist. 11 state representative elect.

West Sabine traveled to Tenaha September 5 looking to rebound from a season opening 39-22 defeat at the the hands of the defending 2A champions Timpson. Tenaha was looking to rebound from a season opening loss to Elysian Fields. The weather made the field conditions difficult and sloppy, but even with said conditions the Tigers would race out to a 3614 lead at the half.
