Despite their seemingly harmless size, ticks can carry various diseases with much larger consequences for animals and their owners.

Livestock, humans at risk of painful bites as horse fly populations increase

Be on the lookout for an especially nasty and tenacious biting insect pest – the horse fly – as it hunts for its next blood meal. Sonja Swiger, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service entomologist in the Texas A&M Department of Entomology, Stephenville, said she expects reports of horse fly infestations to increase over the coming weeks.

Yellowpine planning revival...

Revival services are being planned for this week at Yellowpine-Macedonia Baptist Church. Services will be held July 18-20, 2024. Each evening's service begin at 7:00 p.m. Bro. Raymond Smith will be the evangelist for these services. He has been faithful several years as a pastor and evangelist at area East Texas churches. Bro. Smith is currently pastor of Nedville Baptist Church in Jasper County. Bro. T.A. Lane and the congregation of Yellowpine-Macedonia wish to invite everyone to attend these services, which will also include old fashioned hymns and special music. Yellowpine-Macedonia is located in Sabine County's Yellowpine community, at the intersection of Hwy. 87 South and FM 2343. Interested persons may contact Bro. MY FATHER-IN-LAW

On June 6, 1958 I became a changed man. Around 8:30 pm I was pronounced “married” by a minister, who happened to be my new father-in-law. So, I was magically changed from a single man to one who now had a father-in-law, a motherin- law, sister-in-law, and “yes”, a bride.
