I must admit that I love the taste of licorice. I always have. Now I know that most people don’t, and it is difficult to find any who can “take it or leave it”. You either love it or hate it. My wife is in the latter category. I have had to limit my intake of the sweet, black, chewy, delicacy since our marriage.

Barbara Westhead (pictured above) and her fiancé Jarrod Vickery own and operate Hobbits Hideout at 535 Sabine Street in Hemphill, Tx., and offer breakfast, lunch and dinner take out until 7:00 p.m. as well as offer their collection of personalized t shirts and boutique items. Breakfast is from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. and closed Sunday.

Smithsonian Traveling Museum Coming to San Augustine

The Smithsonian traveling museum is coming to San Augustine, Texas for six weeks, August 24 to October 6, 2024. The Smithsonian Institution is our country’s national museum, located in Washington, DC. Their program, called Museum on Main Street (MoMS), brings museum exhibits to small towns across America. San Augustine will be the first of seven towns across Texas honored to host the exhibit.
