HEMPHILL, TX – The Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Museum ‘Remembering Columbia’ is proud to announce the 5th annual Galactic Gala on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Organized by Friends of the PHS NASA Museum, the black-tie event will celebrate the museum’s impact in the community and efforts to inspire young people to pursue careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) fields.

In the year 2000 my computer did not crash, nor did the world come to an end as was predicted by many people. However, I did visit the Crescent City in June for the very first time. Advertisers are well aware of the power of images. They carefully create pictures of their products for TV, magazines, billboards, etc. The idea is that the picture will create an image within the viewer that will in turn create a desire, and hopefully a decision to pursue or buy what is being advertised. Images can be very effective.

Brandon Hudson has found a rather unique way of connecting the past with the present. He does it with his art. The native Texan and artist takes old slides – yes, those ancient forms of Power Point – art professors once used for instructional purposes and adds his own touch to convert those old prints into painted canvas.
