FBI investigates second assasination attempt against Trump

(AP) — Donald Trump was the target of what the FBI said “appears to be an attempted assassination” at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, just nine weeks after the Republican presidential nominee survived another attempt on his life. The former president said he was safe and well, and authorities held a man in custody.

I sometimes wonder about the thought, or lack of it, that goes into the making of signs these days. I have seen road signs and even warnings on medicines that don’t seem to make sense or just state the obvious. I think the fear of frivolous law suits has contributed greatly to all of this unnecessary information.

I wear used clothes. I remember going to clothing stores years ago and buying new clothes. But about the time I stopped wearing business suits and flying in airplanes for work, I started going to used clothing stores. Then I discovered online consignment stores and, since then, I’ve hardly bought a new item of clothing except socks and shoes and underwear.

Texas pecan production continues challenging cycle

Season-to-season factors continue to keep Texas pecan production from reaching previous yield benchmarks, said a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. Monte Nesbitt, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension horticulture specialist and assistant professor in the Texas A&M Department of Horticultural Sciences, said pecan trees typically produce good to heavy crops followed by a light to very light crop the following year.

Georgia-Pacific Modifies Lumber Operations in Texas and South Carolina

Georgia-Pacific announced today it is modifying lumber operations at two of its lumber facilities located in Camden, Texas and Prosperity, South Carolina. Over the next couple of months, these sites will be discontinuing lumber production from logs while maintaining plywood core sawing operations. The modification will not have an impact on Georgia-Pacific’s plywood facilities located within the same complexes as these lumber operations.

After 26 years in practice as Hemphill’s favorite optometrist, Dr. Gary Golden has closed his practice and will be joining his brother, Dr. Dixon Golden at Texas State Optical in Nacogdoches two days a week. Dr. Gary will be driving back and forth on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for appointments and he and his wife, Jeanette, will maintain their Hemphill residency. Dr. Golden would like to recognize longtime office manager Joann Beasley for her service and dedication over the years, “She became family to all of us, and this move is bitter sweet for us.
