It is a long way from the Friday night lights of Hemphill to the legendary crimson turf of Tuscaloosa, but for hometown hero Dre M. Washington, the journey has been defined by grit, perseverance, and a promise kept.

West Sabine High School’s own Jakobe Harris has been recognized as the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week, an honor that celebrates student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional performance on the field, leadership, and dedication to their team and community.

Hemphill High School is celebrating a playoff win with the Varsity Volleyball team. They defeated Sabine Pass and will play Tuesday in Hudson at 7 p.m.

The new state law banning cellphones has been well received by students. Since its implementation, we have observed noticeable improvements in social skills, participation in outdoor activities, and overall academic performance. Students are now more talkative during lunch, engaging in meaningful conversations with their peers and teachers.
