If you aren’t paying attention to softball in East Texas, you are missing out on loads of fun! And your hometown Lady Hornets are putting on a show for their fans and foes alike! The ladies took down district rivals Central Pollock behind the big bats of Rylie Corley and Amelia Gay. Both Corley and Gay homered in tonight’s game. The final was 10-5. What a sweet victory for the whole team. And last week saw sophmore Kinley McDaniel recording her 100th career strikeout today! Big milestone for this Lady Hornet and we know there are many more ahead! The Lady Hornets travel to Pineland for some in county district action on Friday.

Those San Augustine Wolves have shown out on the hardwood and punched a ticket to the State Basketball Playoffs in San Antonio. Sabine County is SHOUTING congratulations to Coach Reggie Parks, pictured above with two more of our hometown favorites, San Augustine High School Principal Shelley Owens and Superintendent Marc Griffin.

Hornets Powerlifting Team Earns 3rd at Regionals, Two Advance to State

The Hemphill High School boys powerlifting team turned in an impressive performance at the regional powerlifting meet held in Rusk, bringing home six medals and finishing third overall as a team. Seven Hornet lifters made the trip to the regional competition, with nearly the entire squad earning hardware for their efforts.

West Sabine Senior Earns Prestigious Beta Scholarship

A senior at West Sabine High School is being recognized for an outstanding academic achievement on the national level. Trace Sowell, a West Sabine High School senior, was recently selected as a recipient of the National Beta Scholarship Program, earning a scholarship that can be used at the college or university of his choice.

Hemphill Student Athletic Trainers Earn State Invitation

Three Hemphill Hornet student athletic trainers recently showcased their skills on a regional stage, earning top honors and a coveted invitation to compete at the state level. Raelee Conn, Tabitha Luman, and Autumn Snow represented Hemphill at the East Texas Athletic Trainers’ Association (ETATA) Student Athletic Trainers Workshop held at East Texas A&M University in Commerce.
