The fourth six weeks of school has been completed at West Sabine Elementary School. Students making the honor roll for this grading period are listed here.

Both Sabine county schools got their respective baseball and softball seasons underway this past week. The Tigers had their home opener on February 17, which they took 3-2 behind strong pitching from Cayson McBride and Laken Quick.

The West Sabine Lady Tigers started their postseason in Center February 16 vs a heavily favored Timpson squad. The first quarter saw both teams shaking off the rust as it was 4-3 West Sabine after one.

Former West Sabine Tiger Hunter Murphy continued to make his mark at the collegiate level with a strong performance for Stephen F. Austin State University on Saturday in Houston.

The atmosphere inside the Hemphill High School gymnasium was electric this past Tuesday, charged with the kind of intensity only a rivalry game against the neighboring San Augustine Wolves can provide. While the scoreboard at the final buzzer didn’t tip in favor of the Hornets, the night belonged to senior standout Ethan Dickerson, who officially etched his name into the annals of Hemphill basketball history.

With inclement weather conditions looming January 23, the West Sabine Tigers and Lady Tigers decided to move up their contests with the Chireno Owls up to Thursday, January 22. The Lady Tigers got behind the eight ball early as the Lady Owls rushed out to a 158 first quarter lead and a 2713 deficit at the half.
