Lady Hornet Volleyball got another win last week. This time at home and on senior night! Who could ask for a better highlight! Seniors and coaches pictured l to r: Coach Noble, Rylee Bragg, Jessie Williams, Laken Wilkerson and Coach Diggles. JV Lady Hornets also were victorious against Newton.

Hemphill ISD celebrated Senior Night last week at the last home game of the season. The Class of 2023 made their mark with another win, this time against the Warren Warriors. These seniors had a large week! It began with a superior rating at UIL Marching Competition and continued with senior pep rally and senior night at Hornet Stadium. They then traveled with to Area contest in Longview where they received 4th place honors for their division. From Junior High to High School, Brookeland has had a Cross Country season to brag about. Winning every meet they entered, winning their District title, and qualifying for Regionals in Corpus Christi, the Junior High team brought some serious recognition to Brookeland while establishing their promise of continued success in the future.

On Saturday, October 22 at the St.Croix Bassmaster Central Open at Sam Rayburn presented by Mossy Oak Fishing, Keith Combs, an Elite Series pro angler from Huntington, Texas, weighed in 16 pounds 11 ounces on the third and final day to score a come from behind victory with a three day total of 46-5.

If you have been following the Hemphill Hornets this year, it’s easy to see that this team is something special. They face Anderson Shiro in their final district game of the season this week on the road, but last Friday’s Senior Night was the last time they would take the field at home. West Sabine Tiger Band compteted in Longview this weekend in UIL Marching Contest. The band recieved a two from the judges.

Tiger Stadium was overrun with the stars of the future on Saturday, October 8th, when teams from Timpson, Many, and Pineland, in four age groups, showcased their talents in a series of seven games. Lady Tiger Cross Country runner Kenzy Bragg qualified for the Regional Finals in Huntsville with her 2nd place finish during the Area contest in Broaddus on the 12th. Bragg will be joining other 2A runners on the 24th as they attempt to qualify for the State Finals in Round Rock, November 45.
