On Friday, February 3rd the Hemphill Little Green Band participated in the Region 21 UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition at Nacogdoches, TX in Nacogdoches High School. 27 students prepared solos or participated in small ensembles and performed for a rating in front of a judge.

Hemphill Ag Mechanic team consisting of Sam Welch, Jake Pay, and Johnathan Lucius travelled to the San Angelo Show and won a blue ribbon for their project. .

The Hornets started strong last week. They began their competition on Wednesday against the Newton Eagles. Although the game had to be changed from Tuesday to Wednesday due to inclement weather, the Hornets came out fighting. Tuesday night began with the Lady Hornets going up against the Lady Eagles.

Both Tiger squads saw action last week as they traveled to Woden January 24 before returning home to host Broaddus January 27. The contest against Woden saw the ladies avenge an earlier 57-28 home loss to the Lady Eagles with a gritty, hard fought 44-39 victory. The Tigers, however, faced tougher sledding as they got behind early and couldn’t catch up as the Eagles eased out to a 63-36 victory.
