Charles Buron McCary, Jr.

Charles Buron McCary, Jr., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 at his home in Hemphill, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Beaumont, July 10, 1960 to Charles Buron McCary and Patsie Smith Mc Cary Pearson. He was a Sergeant at the Port of Houston Police Department. He retired in January 2022, after 28 years of service. Growing up, he loved spending summer vacations with his grandparents at Toledo Bend fishing and hunting. He loved taking vacations to beautiful beaches and scuba diving.

Hazel Girouard Swice

Hazel Girouard Swice, 89, of Bronson, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hemphill. She was born in Port Arthur, on Nov. 19, 1932, to Andrew N. Girouard and Evelyn Palombo Girouard. She worked as a secretary for Texaco for many years. She is survived by her son, Joseph Vaughn is Los Placitas, NM; daughters, Therese Vaughn of Nederland, Margaret Vaughan of Hemphill, Deborah Beadeaux and husband, David, of Port Neches and Hemphill, Celeste Pinson of Milam, and Patricia Vaughan of Nederland; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Services Set for Joseph JOJO Hogan

Joseph Michael Hogan, affectionately known as "JoJo" to his family and friends, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 as the result of an accident in Many, Louisiana.

JoJo was born in Lufkin, Texas December 5, 2000 to Billy Michael Hogan and Dawn Marie Briggs Hogan.  He was a well known, lifetime resident of Sabine County where as a child you often see him at ball games and events with his mother, Dawn or sister, Kelly.  He was a member of the Hemphill Class of 2020 and is remembered by friends and family as fun loving and always up for a good time.

Albert A. Adair

Albert A. Adair, age 96, of Broaddus passed away Sat., Sept. 10, 2022, in Pasadena. He was born June 29, 1926, in Stamps, Arkansas. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Broaddus, and faithfully served there as a deacon. His survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold Lee and Darlene Adair of Leakey and Marion David and Kerry Adair of Deer Park; grandchildren, Eric Wayne Adair of Canton, and Amy Adair Page, David Adam Adair, Emily Adair Quinton, and Stephen Addison, all of Deer Park; and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Melinda Kay Andress

Melinda Kay Andress, 60, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at her lake house in Hemphill. She was born in Pasadena, on May 20, 1962 to Thurman Linscomb and Nell McPherren Linscomb. She was a longtime resident of Nederland before moving to Port Arthur 15 years ago. She was a clerical worker in health care and was a member of Central Gardens Baptist Church. She loved decorating and she designed a life that she loved. She also loved collecting even if it was just one item. She would say that it only takes one to be a collection. She was a lake girl and enjoyed spending time at Toledo Bend and loved going on adventures. She knew and loved the Lord and raised her daughter to do the same.

Willow Annzlee Hill, 9-month-old daughter of Trevor and Macey (Vaughn) Hill of San Augustine, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. Willow was born Nov. 8, 2021, in Bedford. Her survivors include her parents, Trevor and Macey (Vaughn) Hill of San Augustine; sisters, Paisley Hill and Everly Hill, both of San Augustine; grandparents, Vickie and Dennis Prince of Onalaska, Kim and Tim Davis of Cleveland, Donald and Stefanie Vaughn of Huntington, and Tracy and Suzanne Hill of Tyler; great-grandparents, Patricia Markham of Cleveland and Suzanne Rogers of Huntington; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
