Cathy Wynne Bennett, age 73, died peacefully in Greenville, SC, on January 16, 2023, surrounded by all her children and grandchildren. She was born in Springhill, LA, on August 15,1949, daughter of the late Mary Shirley Wynne and James Preston “Shorty” Wynne. After graduating from Springhill High School in 1967, she moved to Beaumont, where she met and married B. Gerald Bennett shortly after. Together they raised their 3 children in Texas and in the oil fields of Saudi Arabia.

Coming from a very musical family, she was known for her beautiful singing voice and blessed many with it. She passionately loved her Lord Jesus and wanted to make Him known to everyone she met. Wherever she was planted, she actively participated in the life of her local body of believers. She cherished her family and took great pleasure in being “Mimi” to her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whom she prayed for daily. She is survived by her husband Gerald of Hemphill, Texas; her children: Amy Trull, Sara Griggers (Peyton), and Adam Bennett (Mandy) and grandchildren: Taylor Trull James, Sara Jordan Trull, Seth Bennett Trull, and Elijah Dwayne Trull; John Peyton Griggers II, Catherine Bennett Griggers, and William Stewart Griggers; Adam Jackson Bennett, Samuel James Bennett, and Benjamin Harrison Bennett; great-grandchildren: Carson and Gracie James – all of Greenville, South Carolina; siblings: Gwen Tyler, Wallie Wynne, and Debbie Dyer – all of Springhill, Louisiana.

She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with family and friends. The family wishes to thank Cathy's caregiver, Tara Hennon, as well as the loving staff of Lutheran Hospice.

Visitation for Texas Family & Friends will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, from 1-3pm at First Baptist Church of Hemphill (301 Mann St. Hemphill) followed by the Funeral Service at 3pm, officiated by Cecil Paul Mott. Interment will be in the Pinehill Cemetery in Sabine County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Christmas Child of Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
