The Gaines-Oliphint House, a two story, doublepen, hand hewed log house constructed in 1818, the earliest surviving Pre-Republic, Anglo American structure in Texas, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 5. The Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) Seth Hurin Bates Chapter and Ezekiel Cullen Chapter will conduct a ceremony to designate the house as a DRT Historic Site. The house is located at 100 N. Friday was our second Night At The Museum with special guest and friend Frank Hughes. As Chief of NASA's Space Flight Training Division, Hughes headed an organization responsible for all Shuttle and Space Station training. March 21, he gave a keynote about his career and the future of the American space program. He also signed copies of his book, The Great Apollo Train Wreck. Pictured above with museum attendees.
