Sabine County Rodeo is back! What a great night for our community. We saw so many families out enjoying the festivities and we loved being a part of it. Check out more photos on page 8 and our Facebook page.

Congratulations to Carleigh Patterson, Grand Champion Rabbit, pictured above with Ryan Svehla buyers committee. It was a great weekend for all the participants. Represenative Joanne Shofner, District 11 which Nacogdoches, Newton, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, Shelby counties, was an honored guest at the Gaines-Oliphint House Historical Designation this weekend in Pendleton Harbor. The event, organized by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, was well-attended by several chapters. Shofner is a proud member of the Stone Fort Chapter in Nacogdoches.

The eyes of Texas were definitely smiling down this weekend, as The Daughters of the Republic of Texas came to Sabine County to dedicate the Gaines-Oliphint House as a state Historical Site. The presentation began at 10 and the rain held off til the very end. Pictured above were all the Daughters present, representing chapters from across the state of Texas. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Chad Moody to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. The Board issues physician assistant licenses to qualified individuals to practice in the state of Texas.

If there is one thing in particular that we here in Sabine County are known for is our characters. From Bicycle Bill and Joe Fred to Audrey Dean, things always stay lively and there’s never a dull moment.
