Represenative Joanne Shofner, District 11 which Nacogdoches, Newton, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, Shelby counties, was an honored guest at the Gaines-Oliphint House Historical Designation this weekend in Pendleton Harbor. The event, organized by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, was well-attended by several chapters. Shofner is a proud member of the Stone Fort Chapter in Nacogdoches.

The eyes of Texas were definitely smiling down this weekend, as The Daughters of the Republic of Texas came to Sabine County to dedicate the Gaines-Oliphint House as a state Historical Site. The presentation began at 10 and the rain held off til the very end. Pictured above were all the Daughters present, representing chapters from across the state of Texas.
