The Toledo Bend Dutch Oven Cookers will be having our March DOG (Dutch Oven Gathering) on Saturday March 15th starting around 9:30 AM at Boles Field outside of Shelbyville. We meet on the third Saturday eight times a year. The public is invited to attend, watch, and learn. If interested to also join. Bring your lawn chairs. If you would like to eat with us we do accept a $5.00 min. donation per person, and you can also bring a covered dish to help out with the food. Come join the fun. And what better time to celebrate that than Women’s History Month? Often people think of history as something that’s already happened, a collection of stories bound in books. But history isn’t just in the past. It’s being written every day by women like Laura Zittle, a woman with a passion for restoration, community, and creating a space where everyone feels at home.

Six Mile Tornado...

A strong EF-1 tornado with estimated maximum winds near 105 mph touched down in the Sabine National Forest along Forest Road 144, and tracked northeast across the forest and Highway 87 just south of the Six Mile community. The tornado was strongest near the intersection of Forest Road 144 and Forest Road 144A, where numerous softwood trees were snapped and uprooted. Additional trees were snapped and uprooted as it crossed Highway 87 between Forest Road 182 and Shawnee ShoresDrive, before eventually lifting in a cove of Toledo Bend Reservoir near Shawnee Shores Drive. The estimated path length was 5.71 miles, with a path width of 625 yards.
