Lonnie Johnston retirement...

Lonnie Johnston, badge #406 joined the Six Mile VFD on January 8, 2007. He was a member of the Sabine County Firefighters Association and served as President. Also a member of the State Firemen and Fire Marshall's Association and was named as Firefighter of the Year by the VFD. Lonnie's retirement party was held on Saturday at the Six Mile VFD. Thank you Lonnie for your many years of service to your community!

Nichols meets with local ISD superintendents

Senator Robert Nichols (RJacksonville) met with local superintendents from San Augustine County and Sabine County. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss education issues in preparation for the 89th Legislature which convenes in January. 'The Legislature faces many challenges this session, and we cannot make good decisions unless we are listening closely to those we represent,' said Nichols. 'Educating our children is and always will be one of the most important issues we face as a state.'

In the year 2000 my computer did not crash, nor did the world come to an end as was predicted by many people. However, I did visit the Crescent City in June for the very first time. I have lived within a four-hour drive but never felt the urge to actually visit the city until my daughter, Kay, called me with some news.

Advertisers are well aware of the power of images. They carefully create pictures of their products for TV, magazines, billboards, etc. The idea is that the picture will create an image within the viewer that will in turn create a desire, and hopefully a decision to pursue or buy what is being advertised. Images can be very effective.
