After 26 years in practice as Hemphill’s favorite optometrist, Dr. Gary Golden has closed his practice and will be joining his brother, Dr. Dixon Golden at Texas State Optical in Nacogdoches two days a week. Dr. Gary will be driving back and forth on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for appointments and he and his wife, Jeanette, will maintain their Hemphill residency. Dr. Golden would like to recognize longtime office manager Joann Beasley for her service and dedication over the years, “She became family to all of us, and this move is bitter sweet for us. Since the unveiling of the Live 360 Sonar (Forward Facing Sonar), there has been a growing chorus of discussion about restricting (or even totally banning) the use of Forward Facing Sonar during bass fishing tournaments. Such discussions inevitably resurface every time a new technology comes along, starting with the flashers, to paper graphs, to regular down facing sonar, to side view, etc., and now with the live forward facing sonar.

I have never been able to watch scary movies. My mother will remind you (if she gets the chance) that I can’t even watch embarrassing television programs, which is, frankly, embarrassing.
