Senior Sunrise...

Members of the Hornet Class of 2023 met at Holly Park for a sunrise service on Sunday. Refuge pastor George Ross prayed over the seniors and shared a message for the parents and students. Project Graduation hosted the event and following the service breakfast was served at the Refuge in Milam.

Lady Hornets Volleyball Camp Starts...

The Lady Hornets Volleyball camp started on July 28th, and the prospective team was stretching for success. A team roster has not yet been determined, but we will let you know as soon as we are notified of its completion. The new Girls Coordinator, Head Volleyball, Assistant Softball Coach Meredith Diggles II, who came over from the Woodville ISD, was amazed at the banners posted in the Hornet Gym, and says “I see some real talent in these girls, and with some hard work, we plan on adding some more banners to these walls.” Reporter photo by Kenny Wick

Tigers get ready for football season...

A new season is off to an early start with the Tigers first practice off to a roaring start at 630 Monday morning. Coach Danny Bragg was pleased with 35 players on the field, and optimistic about building a team around his returning core group. With a strong district which includes Garrison, Grapeland, Joaquin, San Augustine, Shelbyville, and Timpson, the Tigers will be working hard to improve on last years 4-7 record. Show 'em how it's done...

For three days last week, 16 young Hornets showed up for work with the Hornet High School coaching staff. The camp was open to 1st through 6th grade players, organized by Hemphill Youth Football Coach Kade Noble, who had the assistance of the entire Hornet staff running the kids through the fundamentals of conditioning, blocking, passing, defense, and game stratagies. All great things come to an end

They say all good things come to an end. Not sure what they say about great things but good doesn’t begin to describe my experience coaching the West Sabine Lady Tigers. Great, wonderful, and hard to believe do a much better job. When I became head coach in 2017, I would like to say I knew exactly what the future held, but that would be a understatement.
