Old Dairy Queen Building...

Rumors were circulating on social media last week that a new restaurant was opening in the old Dairy Queen building. Sadly, Dairy Queen employees were only there to clean out the building. At this time there are no contracts in place for anyone to open up a new restaurant in the building. (The Facebook post suggested a Southern Fried Chicken, but we have no validation of that rumor.)

Annual Homecoming Everyone is cordially invited to our Annual Homecoming and Approaching 118th Birthday at Milam Chapel United Methodist church located on Moore Lane in Milam. Pastor Joyce White August 24th. Sunday School 10:00 am , Morning Worship 11:00 am. The evening service will begin at 3:00 pm. The message will be delivered by Rev. Emanuel D. Echols, Pastor of Salem United Methodist Church, Orange, along with choir and congregation. Also a Youth choir from Spirit of Life Church, Shreveport, La. Your presence will be appreciated.

Pineland Day Festivities Officially Underway

It’s that time again! Every odd numbered year Pineland has the spectacle known as Pineland Day, while their sister city Diboll has Diboll Day every even numbered year. August 16 saw the festivities, hoopla and general fanfare of Pineland Day get underway with the Kickoff Banquet at the VFW Hall.. From what I saw the turnout was great and the crowd was lively. Many prizes were awarded to the audience in attendance and a great time was had by all.
