Alligator makes visits....

Body
Local Game Warden, Ryan Svehla recently turned a nuisance alligator call into an educational opportunity for area youth. After responding to a report of an alligator displaying unusual behavior, the reptile swam within just two feet of him — an uncommon and potentially dangerous sign that the animal may have been fed by humans. The officer was able to safely capture the alligator and then use it as a live teaching tool. Over the next day, countless children were given the chance to learn why feeding wild animals is harmful and received a short lesson on the American alligator. Many seized the moment to interact with the reptile, gaining a rare, handson experience with one of nature’s most misunderstood creatures. As always, his daughters were the first to step up and meet the gator, never missing a chance to connect with wildlife. “The best part of my job is being able to educate and bridge the gap between humans and wildlife,” he shared.
