My Feed Store Memories

Body
Deas Fuller owned one of the best feed stores in Texas way back in the day. It still stands today right here in Hemphill and it's still a part of our history, our culture. The store stands like weathered time, washed in sunlight and drenched with East Texas rains. Of course this is merely my humble opinion, rooted in many a cherished childhood memory. I loved that place. I loved how it felt to be there on a Saturday morning in a time and place all of Sabine County came into Hemphill for shopping and visiting with friends and neighbors. The old building was a little dusty, a little loud and always there. A constant in a fast changing world. You could count on Fullers Feed Store to be where it was supposed to be, just down the Pineland road from the old jailhouse, around the corner from Doc Winslow's office, the drug store and insurance office.
