The holiday season is here and the Hemphill Little Theatre is proud to present their Holiday show for the season "'Twas the night Before, the Night Before Christmas".

The show opens this Thursday night at 7pm with the show playing Dec 11th-20th: Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm and one Sunday Matinee at 3pm on December 14th.

Starring in this production is Miles Harden, Leah Poole, Joe Domingues, Melinda Blansett,Tamara Hampton, Charlotte Dominguez, Skylar
Blansett, Tristan Hampton and newcomers Terra White, Andreea Gapmany, and Diana Davidson.

On December 3, 2025, Sabine County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two more subjects involved in Operation Crystal Ball. Both were charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 (Methamphetamines). Deputies will continue apprehending those involved in the sale, distribution, or possession of Illicit narcotics, as this operation completes the final stages.

The Sabine County Empty Stocking Program was hard at work last week as volunteers spent a day shopping for children and families in need. Carts were filled, lists were checked, and spirits were high as the group moved through Wal-Mart in Center selecting toys, clothing, and essentials for this year’s annual distribution.

First Weekend of December Kicks Off Christmas Season Across Sabine County The first weekend of December ushered in the Christmas season across Sabine County, with holiday cheer spilling from storefronts, event spaces, and the streets of Hemphill as businesses, organizations, and families came together to celebrate.

Sabine County has received a special honor from the Alamo Letter Society — a bronze plaque that will soon be placed on the Courthouse Square in Hemphill. The plaque commemorates the Hemphill Middle Schools participation in the Society’s “Victory or Death” Letter Writing Contest, inspired by William B. Travis’s famous “Victory or Death” letter written during the 1836 Battle of the Alamo.

Every dog owner knows the difficulty of keeping their curious canines from eating just about anything they can find, and, with fall in full swing, scattered acorns are likely to catch plenty of pets’ attention. So, does eating acorns pose a risk to a dog’s health?

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. It's my 70th one so far and there's been the usual frenetic activities associated with a day filled with gratitude and giving thanks.

We are heading into the holiday season—already. This year it seems like I have been running and racing and making it to places in the nick of time all year. I tend to overschedule—although I’d like to point out that my sister crams far more activities into less time than I would ever attempt.
