Hemphill — Seniors in Ms. Dana Gordy’s government class at Hemphill High School presented their community projects Monday night at Piney Woods Vineyards on the downtown square. The event highlighted weeks of research, planning, collaboration, and hands-on service designed to strengthen students’ civic understanding while preserving and promoting the story of Sabine County.

(Hemphill, Texas) On Friday, December 26, 2025, the Angelina County Sheriff's Office contacted the Sabine County Sheriff's Office in regards to their capture of a Sabine County Sheriff's Most Wanted individual.

PINELAND — The Town of Pineland has officially been designated the “Sawmill Capital of Texas,” following action by the Texas Legislature earlier this year. A ceremony commemorating the designation was held Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at West Sabine High School, bringing together state officials, industry representatives, and local leaders to celebrate Pineland’s deep-rooted legacy in the lumber industry.

After serving generations of Sabine County residents, K-C Drugs in Hemphill will close its doors at the end of the year, marking the end of an era for one of the town’s longtime independent businesses.
