Hemphill High School Seniors Showcase Community-Focused Government Projects at PineyWoods Vineyards

Hemphill — Seniors in Ms. Dana Gordy’s government class at Hemphill High School presented their community projects Monday night at Piney Woods Vineyards on the downtown square. The event highlighted weeks of research, planning, collaboration, and hands-on service designed to strengthen students’ civic understanding while preserving and promoting the story of Sabine County.

Pineland Named “Sawmill Capital of Texas” by State Legislature

PINELAND — The Town of Pineland has officially been designated the “Sawmill Capital of Texas,” following action by the Texas Legislature earlier this year. A ceremony commemorating the designation was held Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at West Sabine High School, bringing together state officials, industry representatives, and local leaders to celebrate Pineland’s deep-rooted legacy in the lumber industry.
