Legacies and Stonecreek goes fishing...

Body
Legacies Nursing & Rehabilitation of Hemphill teamed up with Stonecreek Nursing & Rehabilitation of San Augustine to take about 20 of their residents on a daylong fishing trip to Cypress Bend on Toledo Bend this last Friday. A nice lunch of hotdogs, chips, and sodas or water was enjoyed while fishing poles were being rigged up. Some residents preferred to just enjoy a beautiful day on the lake, while others were ready to get down to some serious fishing. It was a bit windy so fishing was tough, but Ms. Donna Ferguson caught the only fish of the day, a nice pan sized perch, using a worm and her lucky yellow bobber. Everyone enjoyed a fun filled day making memories!

Ghosts, goblins and predators

Body
Halloween should be a time of fun for our children as they go trick or treating and getting all that candy, and being scared of all those ghosts and goblins. But sadly these days, it can also be a dangerous time. Parents worry about bad people putting dangerous items in their child’s candy, and even fentanyl designed to look like candy, but there is another hidden danger lurking in the shadows…Predators.

President Biden’s pardon of marijuana offenses?

Body
Make no mistake, President Biden’s October 6 pardon of all persons who have committed or been convicted of minor marijuana possession charges in federal courts is constitutional. The Constitution places almost no limitations on the president’s pardon power. The only exception is that it cannot be used in cases of impeachment. The scope of the power is so broad that when President Ford pardoned Richard Nixon, the pardon extended to any crimes Nixon may have committed while in office, even though Nixon had yet to be charged with a single crime. Despite the clear constitutionality of Biden’s pardons, the action raises a much larger and more serious question: has Biden transformed the pardon power into executive nullification?
