Let them be Little

Body
I purchased a telescope for our classroom. Inside the box of many parts was a paper filled with phrases like, “insert part A into part K after rotating part Q!” My mind automatically shut down. I did not completely understand how to follow the directions. I handed the box of assorted parts to Mr. Randy and I opened my favorite cookbook and followed a recipe to bake a Carrot Cake. All was well!

And Now You Know

Body
The news wouldn’t be normal if we didn’t lead off with a Halloween themed bit of nonsense. On Halloween night, police in Roachdale, Indiana noticed what appeared to be a riding lawnmower being driven in a reckless manner where children were out Trick-or Treating. When officers closed on the miscreant, he/she/it was identified as Pickachu?? The creature proved elusive, and aggressive, attempting to ram the patrol car with the mower, becoming so aggressively dangerous that the pursuit was called off for the safety of pedestrians. A witness ratted the Pickachu out, but when officers arrived at the creatures residence he was still aggressive, but was taken into custody without anyone getting hurt. The 19 year old did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs…just stupid.

The Hairspray

Body
My mother had been a beautician for about ten years before I was born. Her talent was definitely that of making her customers, and members of her own family, more beautiful. She gave me my very first haircut, but I was too young to remember the event.

Electoral Accountability

Body
Last Wednesday, President Biden delivered an address at Union Station in which he declared that 'democracy is on the ballot for all of us' this election cycle. A day later, former President Barrack Obama asserted that 'democracy as we know it' may die if Republicans win in Arizona. And then, right on cue, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared on CNN to warn the people that America is in 'a struggle between democracy and autocracy.'
