I challenge any of you readers who have grown children to do what I did recently. I asked my grown daughter what she considered to be the worst punishment that we meted out to her while a youngster. I was shocked at her answer, as this incident had drifted off to the far corners of my mind.

When I was growing up in the 40’s, it was hard to find a squirrel in my home town of Center, Texas. Any time we saw a squirrel we’d grab our gun and try to kill them. The reason for such few squirrels back then was the fact that so many people hunted them (even some women) …and ate them.

Driving Miss Daisy- don’t miss this show!

You may have heard of the movie called “Driving Miss Daisy” from 1989 starring Morgan Freeman, but did you know that it actually first appeared as a play? Written by American playwright Alfred Uhry, it debuted on the off-broadway stage in 1987. This powerful story set in precivil rights Atlanta was actually based on the real-life experiences of Uhry’s southern Jewish grandmother whose son decided she needed a chauffeur after crashing her car at the age of 72.

Nancy Jones set to debut new George Jones book in Many

Nancy Jones, widow of the late legendary Country music icon George Jones will be in Many on Saturday, Nov. 11, for an autograph party in celebration of her new book, “Playin’ Possum, My Memories of George Jones.” The event will be held at Many City Hall at 965 San Antonio Ave. in Many, LA, from 10 a.m. until noon. There is no admission charge, and everyone is invited to attend.
