Property taxes have been at the forefront of Texas small business owners’ minds for years now. Thankfully, Texans will have the opportunity this year to support Proposition 4, which would increase the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000 as well as limit increases on non-residential properties' valued under $5 million to 20%. We need the Voice of Small Business to be heard loud and clear in this important election. And early voting is underway now! You can visit your county's early voting location through Friday, November 3, to securely cast your ballot in-person.

Republican Meeting

Body
The Republican Party Meeting chaired by RD Griffin held it’s monthly meeting on October 12th in the Chamber of Commerce office and discussed each of the amendments coming up for vote on November 7th. Because of the language/verbiage used in each of the amendments on the ballot can be very misleading or even confusing, voters are urged to either attend meetings such as this, or get on the web and do their own research to decide on how they want to vote. Go to the courthouse, or google it to obtain a sample ballot to help you decide where you stand on each of the amendments. The framers gave the People final authority on questions of amending the constitution. Two-thirds of the legislature may put a proposed amendment on the ballot, but a majority of voters must approve it. That’s why you are asked to vote on amendments that seemingly don’t concern you.
