Placing of the Wreath on blue Star Highway Memorial...

Body
The Blue Star Memorial Highways are highways in the United States that are marked to pay tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces. The National Council of State Garden Clubs, now known as National Garden Clubs, Inc., started the program in 1945, after World War II. The blue star was used on service flags to denote a service member fighting in a war. The program has since been expanded to include Memorial Markers and Memorial by-ways. These markers are used in national cemeteries, parks, veterans facilities, and gardens. On Tuesday, June 4th, the Hemphill Garden Club did the 2024 'Placing of the Wreath' at Sabine County marker on blue Star Memorial Highway, Hwy. 21. In attendance of the ceremony were (L-R) Commander Frank Torres VFW Post 10351, Hemphill Garden Club Treasurer Nancy Vincent, HGC member Bill Dodson, HGC member Barbara Guillory, HGC President Fran Hulsey, HGC member Nola Hall, and Sabine County Veteran's Service Officer Tom (Shorty) Warren.

Manufacturers Mistake or Patriotic Karma...

Body
This beautiful, and very patriotic display is on view at our Hemphill Post Office. At first viewing the display immediately reflects American pride and patriotism. Upon further viewing I noticed the small American flags hanging from the garland at the top, and they were all hanging upside down, a symbol/sign of distress. There should be no doubt in any sane persons mind that our country is definitely in a state of distress, with the only peaceful solution being for all freedom loving Americans to go vote on November 5th, and take this country back. So the question is, was the upside down smaller American flags a manufactures mistake or was it a case of patriotic karma dealing out a hand of poetic justice? If it was patriotic karma, I say 'Well-Played.'

Lines Down...

Body
Prayers go out to Deep East Texas Electric Co-Op and linemen all over Texas and the South. DETEC has been battling non-stop, with one storm after another wreaking havoc on their coverage area. On Thursday, more than 28,000 customers were without service. When AEP, their transmission provider had a major outtage on Saturday evening, that number nearly tripled in the South East Texas Area. Many were restored late Sunday night, but not all. Earlier storm damage is still being repaired. Please report any outages that remain. Thank you to all who serve!
