The storms that rolled through our area Thursday evening a week ago brought down many trees throughout Sabine County and beyond, causing damage to many homes and properties, as well as many power lines, leaving most of the county without power for several days. The storms that brought about so many hardships to so many people, also brought out the best in people as neighbors turned out to help their neighbors. This particular account of neighbors helping neighbors was relayed to me by Larry and Cyndy Chandler, who wanted to express their love and gratitude for their 'neighbor helping neighbors', Dr. Tom Rach (our very own Hemphill veterinarian, and wearing his hat) and his son Caleb Rach (wearing his blue scrubs from work). They were out in all that weather in the wee hours of the morning, clearing downed trees and debris so that their neighbors could at least get out of their small subdivision and get to work or to town for supplies. Larry and Cyndy wanted to express their appreciation, and for the community to recognize the Rach family for once again, responding to the needs of the community.
