HCC Fall Festival

The Hemphill Care Center hosted a Fall Festival event on Tuesday, October 29th for the residents. Lots of kiddos attended and enjoyed games, candy and refreshments, face painting, and even a pair of little goats to pet. HCC staff and the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 10351 manned several of the booths, ensuring everyone had a great time.

Ms. Lucille VFW award

On Friday, October 25th, 1st LT Lucille Jarrell (nee Wright), 279th Station Hospital, France and Germany, Army 1942 - 1945, received a Certificate of Recognition of her service in Normandy, and at the Battle of the Bulge, by Veterans of Foreign Wars Chief Commander Alfred Lipphardt. Making the presentation were VFW State Commander Robert Martinex, Jr. (pictured left), present VFW Post 10351 Commander Frank Torres (pictured back/center), and past VFW Post 10351 Commander Curtis Buckner (pictured right). Ms. Lucille turned 103 years old on February 21, 2024.

Hemphill Drum Majors traveled to West Sabine before their send off Monday to present them with a gift for state. West Sabine had visited Hemphill with a gift earlier in the week. The two bands perform Tuesday morning with hopes of making it to finals.
