Vivian Alice Reeves, 83, of Milam, Texas passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on August 2, 1939 in Brookeland, to David Cochran and Lillian Pearl Scott. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Milam. She loved flowers, working in her yard and she was a great 42 player. She loved taking care of kids and grandkids. She is survived by her son, John Reeves and wife, Gloria of San Augustine; daughter, Theressa Sanders of Milam; brother, Bill Cochran and wife, Bernice of Jasper; sister, Jimmie Hess of Brookeland; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Charles Lucian Rhodes Jr.

Charles Lucian Rhodes, Jr., 81, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 in Winnie, Texas. He was born in Port Arthur, on April 12, 1941 to Charles L. 'Dusty' Rhodes and Hannah Cope Rhodes. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and then a member of the United States Army. After serving in the military, he worked as a boilermaker in the refineries for many years before retiring. After retiring, he began working in the construction field. He and his wife, Julie, had been residents of Port Arthur before moving to Hemphill in 2010.

Gary Wade Williams

Gary Wade Williams, lovingly called “Rock” by family and friends, 62, of Hemphill, TX passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin, TX. He was born in Jasper, on January 18, 1960 to Melvin “Mann” Williams and Patty Dean McCauley Williams. He was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and graduated with the class of 1978 at Hemphill High School. He worked with his father before starting his career with the Sabine River Authority, where he worked as a Site Inspector for over 35 years. He was a long-time member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Tommy Chapman

Tommy Chapman, born October 28, 1960, passed away on August 30, 2022 in Houston. He was born in Houston, but spent most of his teenage years in Geneva. He was a graduate of Hemphill High School. He was a retired member of the Houston Police Department (HPD). During his tenure with HPD he spent 28 of his 35 year career working within the narcotics division. There he formed many friendships that quickly became brotherhoods. He was known for his knowledge, hard working determination, and the well deserved trust that he would keep everyone around him safe. He also worked closely with the River Oaks Garden Club, Rice Design Alliance, Lawndale Art, and Sawyer Yards during most of his time within the department. Tommy was dedicated to the friends and colleagues he made with the fine arts communities of Houston. His close friends Bolton Linden and Donny Crowell, along with many other life-long friends provided him happiness and companionship on his many trips to Geneva.

Jerry Withers Wright

Jerry Withers Wright, 72, of Kirbyville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
He was born in Jasper, on Nov. 18, 1949, to Albert S. Wright and Evelyn Beauchamp Wright. He worked for many years as a contract painter. He is survived by his brother, Jim Wright of Cypress. Graveside services were held Sept. 3, in Centerview Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Burl McBride officiating.

Martha Ann Vaughn

Martha Ann (Bobbitt) Vaughn, 73, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Orange, to parents Auddie (Norwood) and T.L. Bobbitt. She grew up in Orange County and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School. She went on to receive a bachelor of education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, in 1970. While at SFA she met the love of her life, Don Harvey Vaughn, and they were married on Aug. 21, 1970.
