Deolan Steptoe, 79, San Augustine, died Feb. 25, 2023, at his residence. He was born March 25, 1943, in San Augustine County. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Steptoe; children, Mary Lynn Renfroe, Michael Steptoe, Jena Boyette; siblings, Doyline Bennefield, Tommy Joe Steptoe, Margaret Chambless, and Linda Runnels; three grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.

Henry Annette Conner, 78, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill. She was born in Carthage, on August 15, 1944 to Marcy Aaron Collins and Unibell Hamilton Collins. She lived in Carthage until the age of two when her family then moved to Sabine County. Over the years, she worked for the Sabine County Clerks Office and for Sabine County Hospital. She was a member of Strickland Crossing Church of God. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking and always making those around her laugh.

Alisa Legae Barnett, 51, of Pineland, Texas passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Baylor St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born in Nacogdoches, on October 26, 1971 to James Landy Barnett, Jr. and Reba Jean Clark Barnett. She graduated from Hemphill High School with the Class of 1990. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from East Texas Baptist University.

Mozell Byley, 84, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on May 8, 1938 in Hemphill to Hubert Henry West and Minnie Herrin West. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a member of East Mayfield Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and all kinds of plants. She also loved her birds and poodles.

Debra Dianne Lavender, 61, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Bastrop, LA on March 28, 1961 to Harry Leonard Anderson and Rebecca Jo Smith Anderson.

Henry Arthur Lavigne, 88, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 07:45 PM. He was born in Lawrence, MA, on December 9, 1934.

Douglas Wayne Welch, 59, of Pineland, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in San Augustine, on September 28, 1963 to Dick Welch, Sr.

Lee Roy Ebarb, 82, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Hemphill, on October 16, 1940 to Rex Ebarb and Viola Woodard Ebarb. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Hemphill and had worked as a logger in the timber industry for many years. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and liked to read Louis Lamour western books. He loved the Lord and enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. He also loved being outdoors gardening, working on his lawnmowers and his bird watching.
